VR 2015 Video Track Formatting Guidelines
  We invite participants to submit videos showing VR-related research or applications, including efforts from 3D user interfaces and mixed or augmented realities. We welcome videos showing early results as well as well-researched results. Videos can and should be submitted independently of a paper submission, although videos describing work in a submitted paper are welcome too. Selected videos will be included in the electronic proceedings and will also be prominently displayed during the conference. Authors of selected videos will also be given the option for their submission to be included in the IEEE VR 2015 YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/ieeevrconf).

Videos should be able to stand on their own and dequately present their topic. All material presented in the videos (including soundtrack) should be original, from the authors, or the authors should have proper permission to use it. They must be between 2 and 5 minutes long and be narrated in English.

When preparing the video, please make it as professional as possible. Producing a video already requires a significant amount of effort, and spending just a little more effort to raise the quality can make a big difference in how it is received. Videos will be accepted in MPEG (.mpg), QuickTime (.mov), AVI (.avi), MP4 (.mp4), or Matroska (.mkv) file formats. In the interests of producing a video that is as platform agnostic as possible, we suggest using one of the following codecs:

  • H.264 (preferred)
  • MPEG 1
  • DivX or Xvid
  • Please note that these videos will appear as a file in the HTML directory structure of the electronic proceedings. Any variance from the suggested formatting may result in difficulties playing the file on different platforms.

Important Dates

Deadline for video submissions: December 26th, 2014
Notification to Authors: January 3rd, 2015
Camera Ready material: January 10th, 2015

This year we will also be accepting "Late Breaking" video entries after the submission deadline. "Late Breaking" video entries may (pending review) be shown at the conference as well as on the Youtube channel. However, these videos will not be included in the proceedings and must be received no later than March 2nd, 2015, including its one page description. For any submission to be considered for inclusion in the conference proceedings, it must be received by December 26th, 2014.

Video descriptions must be submitted via email (videoschairs [at] ieeevr.org) with the URL of the video itself, to the Videos Chairs. (Please do not send us URLs of videos on Youtube, or any such video hosting site.)
